About Us

Michael Tarro began taking piano lessons at six years old. He studied classical, jazz, and popular piano styles for twelve years. Even as an adolescent he achieved numerous musical awards. In high school Michael supplemented his piano lessons by taking courses in harmony and theory, as well as private studies in solfeggi & counterpoint.

Prior to attending college, Michael composed and arranged musical scores for a variety of events, and assembled his first working "horn band" where he applied his studies in harmony and counterpoint in the styles of such artists as Chicago, Tower of Power and Blood Sweat & Tears.

Michael continued his musical studies by attending California State University concentrating in composition, harmony and arranging. He performed in several professional bands while in school and taught piano privately. Upon completing his studies he returned home to Rhode Island.

For the next few years Michael toured throughout Canada and the United States, with a nine piece show band called Fancy Colours. The band performed many styles of music from popular dance, to elaborate broadway productions in which Michael was both the primary arranger and pianist.

Michael has arranged many album projects, composed original soundtracks for film as well as produced commercials for radio and television for more than twenty years. His advertising productions include Off Track Bedding, Rizzo Ford, J & W University, and Arlington RV Super center to name a few. His original compositions "Schizophrenia is Better Than Living Alone" received both local and national airplay on WHJY and the national syndicated Dr. Demento show. Michael's original songs such as "I Won't Be Hangin With the Guys Again", "Suite for Piano and String Quartet", and "Merry Old New England" were licensed and used in the soundtrack of the film "The Package". He also composed a song called "Prelude in E Minor" which was recently used in the film "In Passing".
